To the Maker of the heavens…
You gently awakened me in the darkness so you could share something you knew I’d want to see.
First I noticed I was lying in a pool of moonlight that flooded in through my bedroom window, my body glowing iridescent. Sitting up I looked out the window expecting to see the moon of course, but I was dazzled at the display you created and woke me to share.
A full, brilliantly shining orb hanging there, almost too bright to look at.
But too beautiful to look away from.
What made the view even more spectacular was this… to the moon’s left, as I saw it, was Jupiter, settled in at the 10 o’clock mark. Sparkling and vibrating with heavenly energy, he played off the brilliance of the moon. The pair looked like a piece of exquisite jewelry hanging there in a black velvet case.
My thanks to you, Maker of the heavenlies. Thanks to you for the beauty, yes. But anything you create will be as beautiful. My true gratitude is for giving me not just eyes to see what you’ve done, but a brain to comprehend, a mind that wants to study it, a desire to know, and most of all a heart that swells and fills with the passion that comes from experiencing your works.
“Look what I’ve done.”
“I see it. It’s beautiful, but it’s not the only thing you’ve done for me.”
“I know. But it’s what I woke you to see tonight.”
